Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey Cast and Review

Winnie-the-Pooh has become one of the most iconic and adorable characters for children. However, this time the favorite children’s character created as a scary figure in Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Rhys Frake-Waterfield’s directorial debut.

The film’s star, Amber Doig-Thorne, admits to being enthusiastic about “ruining people’s childhoods”, in this case audiences who have good memories of Winnie-the-Pooh. The up-and-coming actress plays the character of Alice, a grown-up girl who was a huge Winnie-the-Pooh fan as a child.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is a chilling retelling of the Winnie-the-Pooh books by AA Milne and EH Shepard. The book follows the titular bear and his friend Piglet as killers who go on a killing spree after Christopher Robin leaves them for college.

In the synopsis of the film, it was Robin’s departure that made Pooh no longer docile. Pooh became wild, like a bear in general.

Alice claims to a fan of Winnie the Pooh thanks to Disney’s interpretation of the character, which has popularized around the world. Getting the chance to mess with people’s memories of Pooh Bear, according to Doig-Thorne, is an opportunity not to missed.

Speaking at the premiere of the British rom-com Ghosted, Doig-Thornember said he had involved in horror films for years. He likens his experience to eating everyday food.

“And I’m a huge fan of the genre, so able to act in horror is a dream come true,” Doig-Thorne told BANG Showbiz, quoted by Ace Showbiz on Sunday (19/2/2023).

Doig-Thorne also said Jagged Edged Productions, the company behind Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, is an extraordinary production team. He had worked with the production team before.

When offered the role of Alice, who is one of the main characters in the film, Doig-Thorne was very excited. When he started reading the script, he loved it and obsessed with Winnie the Pooh as a child.

“So I was like, “Let’s just destroy people’s childhoods; why not?’ Part of me is like, ‘Oh my God, they crushed Pooh,’ but another part of me is like, ‘I’m really here for this, so it’s okay,'” the 28-year-old actress said.

Doig-Thorne stars in the film alongside Nikolai Leon as Christopher Robin, Craig David Dowsett as Pooh Bear, and Chris Cordell as Piglet. He was excited to see people’s reactions to the film, which began releasing this week.

Doig-Thorne curious to see how people would react if their beloved children’s characters had completely changed. Doig-Thorne also hopes Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey will be his stepping stone to the big screen. He thought this might be his big break.

Previously, Doig-Thorne involved in a Bollywood film called Heropanti 2 a few years ago. The film included at the box office.

“So this is great. I’ve been acting for six or seven years now, but this is the first time I’ve had some sort of international cinematic release, so for me, this is my big break, which makes it more exciting,” said Doig-Thorne.

Doig-Thorne also expressed his principle, that is, when an opportunity arises, he doesn’t hesitate to accept it and keep moving forward. Being selected for the casting is his biggest passion. “Perseverance is the key; maybe 90 percent rejection and 10 percent acceptance,” he said.

According to Doig-Thorne, in time, people will know that what he did playing Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey was not just to seek short-term popularity. He aims for long-term success in independent films.
