SNquietHorror Movies like Scream – The film Scream tells the story of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and her friends who start experiencing several strange phone calls. They later learn that the call came from a psychopathic serial killer wearing a Ghostface mask and a large black cape. This figure also uses a large chainsaw to kill his victims.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was one of the films that exploded at that time even though it was banned in various countries because it was famous for its graphic violence and disturbing content. With documentary-style cinematography, the murder scenes in this film directed by Tobe Hooper are even more tense. Not surprisingly, this film has become a cult for fans of the horror genre because it has a big influence on the theme of a sociopath armed with a chainsaw and wearing a mask because it remains relevant today.
2. All The Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006)
All The Boys Love Mandy Lane tells the story of Mandy Lane (Amber Heard), the most beautiful girl in her school who is crazy about all her male friends. One day, Mandy’s classmate Dylan tries to jump from the roof of the house into the swimming pool to win Mandy’s love. However, this attempt ended in disaster because Dylan hit his head on the side of the pool and died.
Nine months after the incident, Red (Aaron Himelstein) throws a party at his parents’ ranch and invites all the cool kids, including Mandy. However, someone comes to the party uninvited and is determined to win Mandy Lane’s heart, no matter who gets in his way or whatever it takes. This unknown figure was the beginning of a tragic event at the party. The Snowtown or also known as The Snowtown Murders is a film based on a true story in South Australia in the 90s. This film tells the story of Jamie and his half-sister who live with their mother, Elizabeth. Jamie was abused by his half-brother and a neighbor. They befriend John Bunting, a charismatic man who doesn’t like fat people, drug dealers, or gays.
John immediately became a father figure for Jamie, who was still unstable and easily influenced. However, all that changes when various events occur around Jamie, including the disappearance of several people. This weak and vulnerable teenager is suspicious of John and his dark mystery. Apart from offering mysterious, cruel murders, The Snowtown also explores teenagers who were raised by maniacs and experienced sexual violence.
4. Happy Death Day (2017)
Happy Death Day is a science fiction slasher film that tells the story of Tree Gelbman. She is a selfish student who accidentally sleeps in an unknown man’s room while drunk at her birthday party. Since that incident, Tree felt that something strange was happening to him. He knows that something that is happening will continue to happen throughout the day.
The problem is, Tree senses that there is a masked man who wants to kill her. After Tree is killed, he will rise again to be killed again. Tree continues to experience this incident over and over again. Tree believes that the only way to escape this strange world is to reveal the true identity of the masked killer. Viewers will also witness Tree living and dying over and over again to reveal the murderer himself.
