1. Coffee Town (2013)
The next recommended film is Coffee Town. If the films above were all serious, this one is a comedy film. This film tells the story of Will (Glenn Howerton), a website manager who enlists the help of his two friends Chad (Steve Little) who is a salesman and local police officer Gino (Ben Schwartz) to convince the owner of his favorite coffee shop not to convert their business into a bistro & bar.
Why? Because Will feels that the coffee shop doubles as his office, because he likes working while drinking coffee there. So, how do they thwart the shop owner’s intentions? Namely by “committing” robbery. They weren’t really robbing, they just wanted to create the illusion of an environment full of crime, so it wasn’t suitable for a bistro.
2. Movies About Coffee: Coffee Mate | 커피메이트 (2017)
커피메이트 (Coffee Mate) is a romance film. Tells about In-Young (played by Yoon Jin-Seo) is an ordinary housewife who likes watching people in cafes. There, he often sees a man whose name turns out to be Hee-Soo (played by Oh Ji-Ho). One day, Hee-Soo talks to him. They agree to be coffee friends and they can talk about anything including secrets. Of course, as time goes by, they develop feelings for each other.

Another documentary film about coffee, namely A Film About Coffee. Despite being a film, this is a love letter, as well as a meditation, to coffee. This film examines what it takes, and what coffee means. The film fascinates the audience with its journey around the world. From farms in Honduras and Rwanda to coffee shops in Tokyo, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco and New York. Through the eyes and experiences of farmers and baristas, this film offers a unique depiction of all elements, namely the process, preferences and preparations for making a cup of coffee.
4. Cafe Funiculi Funicula (2018)
Cafe Funiculi Funicula, this recently released film is a fantasy drama genre. This Japanese film is adapted from the novel “Coffee ga Samenai Uchi ni” by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. Another title of this film is Before the Coffee Gets Cold / Kohi ga Samenai Uchi ni / コーヒーが冷めないうちに. This film tells the story of a mysterious cafe called “Funiculi Funicula”. Reportedly, this cafe can take visitors back to the past! The owners of the cafe are Nagare Tokita (played by Motoki Fukami) and Kazu Tokita (played by Kasumi Arimura).
Rumors about the Funiculi Funicula cafe spread widely. They say, if visitors sit in a certain place, they can go back in time, and the time can be determined to go back to 2 years ago, or even 5 hours ago. However, there are specific rules at the Funiculi Funicula cafe if visitors want to go back to the past, namely:
- Cafe customers cannot meet people who are not cafe visitors
- If cafe customers did something differently in the past, it will not change the current reality
- There is only one chair in the cafe that can transport someone to the past and if that chair is in use, then the others have to wait until the customer leaves.
- When a cafe customer goes back in time, that customer must remain in their seat,
- The time a cafe customer can go back in time is from the time the coffee is poured into the cup, until the coffee gets cold. And those customers have to finish their coffee before it gets cold
