Another title of this film is Before the Coffee Gets Cold / Kohi ga Samenai Uchi ni / コーヒーが冷めないうちに. This film tells the story of a mysterious cafe called “Funiculi Funicula”. Reportedly, this cafe can take visitors back to the past! The owners of the cafe are Nagare Tokita (played by Motoki Fukami) and Kazu Tokita (played by Kasumi Arimura).

Rumors about the Funiculi Funicula cafe spread widely. They say, if visitors sit in a certain place, they can go back in time, and the time can be determined to go back to 2 years ago, or even 5 hours ago. However, there are specific rules at the Funiculi Funicula cafe if visitors want to go back to the past, namely:

  • Cafe customers cannot meet people who are not cafe visitors
  • If cafe customers did something differently in the past, it will not change the current reality
  • There is only one chair in the cafe that can transport someone to the past and if that chair is in use, then the others have to wait until the customer leaves.
  • When a cafe customer goes back in time, that customer must remain in their seat,
