This tragic and dark comedy genre film actually tells a simple story: someone who usually cheerful dumped by someone he considered a friend, without knowing the reason.

This film, which set near the end of the Irish civil war in 1923, is flat but becomes very special with the solid roles of the players and the stunning scenery of a remote rural setting: Inisherin, a fictional island in Ireland.

It’s as if the audience enchanted to continue following the continuation of the story, with dialogue that sometimes seems stupid but is quite pithy. The audience can even laugh out loud just because the character wants to be funny, but he himself forgets the joke he has prepared.

Colm, who a musician and liked by many people for his ability to entertain, suddenly no longer wants to be friends with Pádraic because he thinks that chatting with him just time-consuming and very boring.

Colm wanted to have songs that people could remember after he died, so he needed time to be alone to finish his work.

However, Padraic couldn’t just let Colm go, so that the atmosphere, which was initially funny with his dark humor, turned gloomy and felt tragic for the two main characters.

Padraic’s life became unstable due to the loss of one of his few friends, and he became even more depressed after Colm threatened to cut off his own finger if Padraic continued to interrupt or just chat with him.

Other characters that quite evoke the atmosphere are Pádraic’s younger sister, Siobhán (Kerry Condon), who is smart and knows Padraic best but eventually leaves him to work outside the island, and a teenage boy named Dominic (Barry Keoghan), the son of a police officer in that remote area but always causing trouble. Dominic often provides input to Padraic but only makes things worse.
