In the first film, a killer robot known as the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) sent from 2029 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). The order to kill came because in the future, Sarah’s son became the leader of the resistance against an artificial intelligence system called Skynet. However, thanks to the help of a human soldier named Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), Sarah managed to defeat the Terminator. In Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Skynet sends the T-1000 (Robert Patrick) to kill Sarah’s son, John Connor (Edward Furlong).
Different from previous versions, the T-1000 is liquid and can transform itself into any shape. Both Sarah and John try desperately to avoid the T-1000. In this resistance, both of them were assisted by the Terminator who had tried to kill Sarah. 1. Back to the Future (1985)
Back to the Future a science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis. The script written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. Since its release on July 3 1985, Back to the Future has achieved a multitude of achievements and success. One of them is the 1986 Oscar trophy for the Best Effects and Sound Effects Editing categories.
Until now, this film has succeeded in having a big influence on science films with a time travel theme. The story focuses on the story of a 17 year old boy named Marty McFly who goes on an adventure into the past using a time machine made by his friend, Doc Brown. Brown is a scientist who created a time machine called DeLoran. Thanks to this machine, McFly returned to 1955. At that time, McFly had to reunite his parents so he could return to the future.
2. Interstellar (2014)
This film, directed by Christopher Nolan, tells the story of the condition of the earth which will no longer be habitable in 2060. Many living creatures have become extinct because they have been infected by an epidemic.
This condition prompted NASA to launch a mission into outer space to find a new planet that could replace Earth as a place for humans to live. They assigned astronauts, Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), Amelia Brand (Anne Hathaway), Doyle (Wes Bentley), and Romily (David Gyasi) to carry out the mission. With heavy hearts, the four astronauts had to leave their families and loved ones on earth. To be able to reach a number of planets in other galaxies, Cooper and his team had to pass through a wormhole. They also have to be able to confirm whether these planets can be inhabited by humans. Interstellar is the right film for those of you who are science fans with a touch of time travel theme.
In making this film, director Christopher Nolan even asked for advice and opinions from quantum physics professor Stephen Hawking.
3. Films like Terminator: Looper (2012)
Looper tells the story of Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a hitman who carries out his duties very well. He even became a highly paid assassin. Joe works under a criminal syndicate known as Looper. They come from the future to kill people in the past through time travel. Everything went smoothly until one day Joe realized that the next target for murder was himself in the future. Apart from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Looper stars a number of big Hollywood names, starting from Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Piper Perabo.
4. Predestination (2014)
This film, made by directors Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig, tells the story of a government agent, known as The Barkeep (Ethan Hawke) who travels through time to prove the bombing incident. He wants to stop the terror crime codenamed The Fizzle Bomber which has bombed many places in the world. Therefore, The Barkeep was sent to the past using a violin-shaped time machine. Thanks to a time machine, he managed to return to New York in 1970. But unfortunately, The Barkeep was hit by a large bomb explosion. He suffered serious injuries and had to undergo facial reconstruction. After recovering, The Barkeep met a man who worked as a writer. She calls herself The Unmarried Mother (Sarah Nook).
It was the meeting with The Unmarried Mother that finally took The Barkeep on a confusing back-and-forth time journey.
