Review Vampires Suck: The Gloomy Vampire Parody

Review Vampires Suck – The popularity of Edward Cullen from the novel series Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, which later successfully filmed, made many people uncomfortable, besides, of course, it gave birth to a group of rabid fans. People who embarrassed think that the novel and film have tarnished the sacredness of the classic vampire figure.

In Stephenie Meyer’s hands, a vampire suddenly becomes a pale-faced boy who is fragile and unstable. However, what is even more disturbing is perhaps this fact: there is a teenage girl who is crazy about this vampire who is over a hundred years old, and is willing to die to be with him.

Review Vampire Suck

As a spoof of the first two sequels of the four Twilight Saga series, this latest work by the director-writer duo who specialize in puns should be able to represent that embarrassment. However, what can you say, ‘Vampires Suck’ by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer turned out to be just a boring comedy. Unlike their previous works, such as ‘Epic Movie’, which spoofed many films at once in a series of plots, ‘Vampires Sucks’ almost completely follows the storylines of ‘Twilight’ and ‘Eclipse’, complete with the exact same characterizations.

Bella spoofed as Becca (played by newcomer Jenn Proske) and the Cullens, spoofed as Sullen, but Edward’s first name remains, and so does Jacob’s. Those who have never watched the Twilight Saga might have a hard time enjoying this film. For example, when Edward (Matt Lanter) shows up riding an autopad, what’s so funny? But, for Twilight fans of course the scene funny because he’s supposed to fly. Meanwhile, Jacob (played by Chris Riggi) the werewolf played as a man who always chases cats.

Review Vampires Suck: Slapstick comedy

From the start, this film presents itself as a crude slapstick comedy. See how when Becca’s father and Jacob’s wheelchair-bound father met, they joked by beating each other black and blue. The rest gay-style jokes where Jacob’s team, who bare-chested and wearing only super short pants, suddenly dance to the rhythm of the song ‘It’s Raining Men’.

In between adhering to the original Twilight storyline, the film’s director has included spoofs of parodies from films (Gossip Girls, True Blood, Dear John) to artists (Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga).

Every moment, of course, tries hard to be funny, but the audience actually feels that this film seems to be an attempt by the two directors to make themselves laugh. While the audience many times seemed to in a situation holding back something that should have released. If you still remember feeling bored when watching ‘Epic Movie’, then this film is not much different. However, ‘Vampires Suck’ is even better because at least we can still watch Jenn Proske’s play, which hilariously manages to imitate Bella Swan’s behavior, who is always restless and tosses her hair.

Become a Gloomy Parody film

Matt Lanter, who completely dressed up as a human-vampire who is pale and red-lipped, can’t be funny much, and instead makes this film a gloomy (dark) parody.

There is a quite interesting part at the end, which illustrates the reality out there, how the popularity of Edward and Jacob has spawned two opposite defenders. In this film, it depicted with two cheerleading teams representing Edward’s team and Jacob’s team respectively. With a story like that, this film should be more fitting if given the title ‘Twillight Suck’.
